Old World Meets Fabulous (Chandelier) Secretaries Desk

I have had this Secretaries Desk for over a year...i used it to store my scrapbook supplies...then i got a piece i wanted to switch out, so this one has to go.  I had it painted a plane jane white,
and i wanted to play with ASCP Coco and a new stencil I picked up at Hobby Lobby.

Please let me know what you think...i have mixed feelings on this one.  If it doesn't sell in a month...I'm going to go over it with Coco again and just clear wax it.

I did a messy textured application of ASCP Coco...i wanted lots of texture for the dark wax to sink into.  I then painted the drawers with Sherwin Williams (Annie Sloan Dupe) that i made into chalk paint.  I used the original hardware/pulls and painted them with coco and a clear was.  It came out very old world looking, and i just love that chandy...it glam's it up!

Sorry about the weird picture...I have learned a lot about taking good pictures since then...still have a long ways to go!!  This is what she looked like when we bought her at an estate sale.

We sprayed her with Valspar White (I don't remember the exact color) over a year ago.  She did a great job of holding my scrapbook paper and supplies.  But furniture doesn't seem to last long in my house lately...there's always a new one I just can't let go!  lol  I know you relate!

After 1 coat of ASCP Coco - kinda put on random, with some white still showing through.  I wanted to create some nooks and crannies for the dark wax to settle into.

And here she is all finished, what do you think??  Do you like the old world style?  I kinda like the combination of fabulousness with old world

Thank you for stopping by, and i hope i have inspired you to get a piece of furniture out of your home, thrift store, attic...anywhere...and get to painting. There are no rules! Just let the creativity fly! It is like therapy for me. I would rather paint...than do anything else (except spend time with my husband and kids)

  1. This is so cute! I happened to spy it while linking up...somewhere...and forwarded the link to my mom. She has one and I've secretly been wishing for it for 15 years! She wrote back and said she thinks yours is fabulous and is going to GIVE ME HERS so I can do something similar!! Yay!! I"m going to use cream, teal and pink paint and bird stencils. I'm so excited...and I have YOU to think for it! Ha! :)

I've just posted this week's Homemaking Linkup and would love to have you join, if you'd like.

    Blessings,
    Mrs. Sarah Coller

    1. Thank you so much for noticing. ;) I am playing around a little and learning a lot. By the end of this week, I will have a permanent (for a while anyway) look.
